BAYMEADOWS GOLF CLUB
7981 BAYMEADOWS CIRCLE WEST
JACKSONVILLE, FL
When
Desmond Muirhead and the legendary Gene Sarazen got together in the late
1960's to design Baymeadows, they wanted to offer the best possible
experience for golfers of all skill levels. They succeeded beyond their
wildest dreams!
You may get distracted while playing at Baymeadows - the setting is
so
nice that you might forget that you are there to play golf! Winding
through the tall pines and tropical palm trees, the course offers lush,
green fairways. Water comes into play on 8 holes. The course residents
include many different species of birds, such as hawks, ospreys, and our
magnificent pair of bald eagles!
Here is an idea of what you will find at Baymeadows. Our 7th hole is a
picturesque par 4, measuring 397 yards from the back tee. Your tee shot
should be aimed at the generous landing area, away from the water on the
left. A well-struck second shot will easily clear the water and bunkers
fronting the green. A birdie putt is a definitely possibility, once you
have arrived on the undulating putting surface.
The par 5, 609 yard 8th hole is a
real beauty that will challenge those who want to play the back tee.
(Fortunately, most of us can play from much further forward by selecting
the tee that best suits our game). You have plenty of fairway in which to
land your tee shot. Your second shot should be aimed towards the right
side of the fairway to set up the best angle to approach the green. The
greenside bunkers are behind the green, so don't hit too much club. A good
third shot will put you in position to make another birdie.
Our 13th hole is gorgeous par 3 that will remind you of the 17th hole at
TPC Sawgrass. Its island green may at first make you a little nervous, but
fortunately, you do not have far to go to reach the green. At 162 yards
from the back tee, the hole can be reached by just about anyone, if you
select the correct tee. The chance for a birdie or par is pretty good if
you hit a decent tee shot.
The par 4, 18th is our signature hole. We give you a choice here. You can
hit your tee shot down the left side, without much danger. If you are more
adventuresome, you can go down the right side, where the 2nd shot is
shorter but the fairway is far more undulating. At 434 yards from the back
tee, it will take two good shots to make the putting surface. A good
strategy may be to lay up short of the water fronting the green with your
second shot, so you can pitch it close to the pin and save your par. A par
on this challenging beauty is a great score!
The great thing about Baymeadows is that regardless of how you play the
game, you will have an enjoyable time. Our generous fairways and
medium-sized, undulating greens will be just the right formula for your
golf game, regardless of how well you play
