Designed by PGA-tour veterans Mark McCumber and Gene Littler, the 18-hole course at The Golf Club of Amelia Island embodies the ultimate in pure golfing pleasure. But they haven't forgotten the kinds of challenges that make golf much more then a game. The meticulously maintained course winds its way through palm, pine and oak trees, affording spectacular views of Amelia Island's rich natural treasures. Nestled along the shores of the Atlantic, the Golf Club of Amelia Island, at Summer Beach, opened in the fall of 1987. Its natural beauty, combined with the designing talents of Gene Littler and Mark McCumber, brought them a very playable, yet challenging golf course. Its flawless design has been recognized worldwide and, in 1988, it was nominated as best new course of the year. It was also the host site of the 1998 Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf Senior PGA Tour.
